A further step in the development of solar thermal power plants

The European HYSOL project, developed over the last three years in the solar thermal plant Manchasol (Ciudad Real, Spain), has been successfully completed, demonstrating that hybridisation of CSP with other energy sources (renewable and fossil) ensures power supply to the power grid in a stable and firm way, regardless the weather conditions.

HYSOL PROJECT PROGRESS: FIRST PERIOD COMPLETED

The 11th of February, the review meeting for the first period of HYSOL project was held in Madrid, with the attendance of Mr Marcelino Sánchez from CENER as reviewer of the project, Mr Piero de Bonis as EC Project Officer, and some representatives of all the partners.

During this meeting, the first period progress of the project was discussed. As a conclusion, all the intermediate objectives have been reached as planned:

HYSOL PROJECT VISIT TO COBRA’S MANCHASOL CSP POWER PLANT

During the 6th month meeting of the HYSOL project organized by the project coordinator, COBRA, and held on 26th and 27th of November 2013, a visit to have an onsite acquaintance of the operation of Manchasol solar power plant was made on the first day. Representatives of all project partners can be seen in the event’s picture at the plant entrance: COBRA, PSA-CIEMAT, ENEA, IDie, AITESA, DTU – Management Engineering group, UPM – Politechnical University of Madrid, and SDLO-PRI of the Wageningen University.
